But why do some people - a lot of people really - seek to do good.

Altruism, is the way a person acts unselfish to earn the devotion from other people. People may do things that aren't really their will, but to get honor and credit for their behaviors. As mentioned by Hamilton, we have a will to save our off-springs because we want to save our family, our friends, then the society. By having more people, we will be able to improve the society more than before. While doing good to others, we must have some sort of reward to continue such act. If we try to do something good and no one notices, then the next time, we won't feel the need to do goods again. Thus relates to what Mr. Otis once said, "That having integrity is doing the right thing when no one is watching." I believe that this statements proves wrong that without any sort of reward, we will not take actions that are good. Altruism relates to delayed reciprocal altruism in a way that if one treats another harshly, then the next action that person would take would be to treat others just the same as he was treated. Therefore, by the desire of what we want and accomplish, we can take actions that helps us on that criteria. A person as a whole, can't have no selfishness in any position. We are never selfless when committing an act of altruism because whatever we do, there is a desire for it and when we have a desire, we need to do our everything to accomplish it. As a conclusion, this proves that people seek to do good to impress others, have a higher status in manners, and to accomplsih some sort of desire they have in them.
